About the Project
This apartment building will provide 18 homes for about 55 people in Shubenacadie. This includes:
- three three-bedroom apartments,
- 12 two-bedroom apartments, and
- three one-bedroom apartments.
Three of the apartments will be fully accessible. The design is adaptable so other apartments can be made accessible, if needed.
Each apartment will have a patio or balcony and its own private entrance. The apartments will include energy-efficient appliances and heat pumps, keeping apartments warm in winter and cool in summer.
Location and Community
The site is along the driveway to Sunnybrook Manor, off Mill Village Road. The building will be close to Shubenacadie District Elementary School, seniors’ apartments, Shubie River Park, a local bank and a pharmacy.
What’s Next
Interested companies have until August 18 to submit proposals (https://biddingo.com/buildnovascotia) to finalize designs and build the two apartment buildings. Proposals will then be evaluated, and the contract will be awarded this fall.
Construction is expected to start next spring, keeping in mind that many factors can affect timelines. Timelines will continue to be updated on this page.
