Middleton – Sunset Crescent

About the Project

One 16-unit apartment building and one eight-unit apartment building will provide 24 homes for about 70 people on Sunset Crescent.

The larger building will have 12 one-bedroom apartments, two two-bedrooms and two three-bedrooms.

The second building will have seven two-bedroom apartments and one three-bedroom apartment.

Five of the 24 apartments will be fully accessible. The design is adaptable so other apartments can be made accessible, if needed.

Each apartment will have a patio or balcony. The apartments will include energy-efficient appliances and heat pumps, keeping apartments warm in winter and cool in summer.

What People are Saying

“Access to safe, affordable housing is fundamental to building a strong and healthy community. We’re excited to see this project moving forward in Middleton and grateful to the province for recognizing the need that exists here. The new housing will make a meaningful difference for individuals, families, and seniors who are looking for a place to call home.” – Middleton Mayor Gail Smith

Location and Community

The site is close to existing seniors’ housing. It is also close to shopping, groceries, schools, the library and the local NSCC campus.

What’s Next

Interested companies have until August 18 to submit proposals (https://biddingo.com/buildnovascotia) to finalize designs and build the two apartment buildings. Proposals will then be evaluated, and the contract will be awarded this fall.

Construction is expected to start next spring, keeping in mind that many factors can affect timelines. Timelines will continue to be updated on this page.
