Dartmouth – Shannon Park

About the Project

One-hundred new public housing apartments will provide safe, affordable homes for more than 300 people in Shannon Park. The homes will be the first to get underway as part of a larger community development plan announced by the provincial and federal governments in December 2025.

The announcement committed to a total of 930 homes located in Shannon Park. These 100 public housing apartments are part of a total of 300 housing units that will be built on provincial land. Another 630 homes will be built on federal land. A new school is also planned for the area.

This project is a partnership between the Province and Build Canada Homes. Nova Scotia is one of the first provinces to reach an agreement with Build Canada Homes.

Location and Community

As part of the Shannon Park community development plan, these homes will be close to schools, childcare, other homes and recreation. People will also have access to transit.

What’s Next

Canada Lands Company is on site now, removing soil contaminants and conducting other remediation to prepare for construction.  They will also start construction of a future road corridor (road, sidewalks, bike lanes, etc.) this year.

Site preparation is underway at Shannon Park as crews continue redevelopment work.
